What Will You Learn

Course Content

The course consists of seven units:

  • Unit 1 Dementia awareness
  • Unit 2 Exploring how people’s rights and responsibilities are protected at work
  • Unit 3 Understand the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia
  • Unit 4 Understand equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care
  • Unit 5 Understand the administration of medication to individuals with dementia using a person centres approach
  • Unit 6 Understand behaviour in the context of dementia
  • Unit 7 Understand the benefits of engaging in activities in social care

Learning Methods

Learning will be undertaken via a blended learning method, which includes both 1 to 1 visits as well as self-directed study. All learners will be provided with their own learning pack which includes learning resources and information booklets. The flexible nature of this type of training means employed staff gain maximum impact for minimal disruption

Assessment Methods

Three paper-based assessments must be completed within agreed timescales. Your tutor will then provide feedback, advice and guidance to help you successfully complete the course

Progression Opportunities

Learners could progress onto a related Level 3 qualification. This course can also act as a bolt on to an apprenticeship
