Based in Darlington, Lindisfarne Court opened in 1992 and is a residential home that provides care for those with learning difficulties and physical disabilities.
The event aimed to celebrate the birthday along with providing residents with a day of activities.
Activities including a cake stall, ice cream parlour, guess the teddy name, how many sweets are in the jar, a bar serving ‘mocktails’, stocks, a band, singer, bouncy castle, BBQ and raffle which we were delighted to donate some prizes to!
Lots of people from the local area and other residential homes attended the day to celebrate with Lindisfarne Court.
Amanda Ashdown, Service Manager, commented: “It’s great to have the residents taking part in the event. They get interact with new people and take part in new activities. It’s a change from their normal routine.”
The care home currently has 18 staff enrolled onto our Health and Social Care qualifications with the aim to develop their knowledge base and move them forward in their career.
Amanda continues to say: “The qualification even helps our staff when organising events like this. It helps them to more effectively plan and organise elements of the event from the perspective of the home, residents and community.
“The staff are able to create more simulative activities for the residents.”
