This Level 3 Childcare Apprenticeship follows the Early Years Educator Pathway and is for those working in childcare e.g. nurseries, pre-schools, crèches, etc. It’s ideal for those working on their own or supervising others who want to upskill and gain the required qualification to work in the early learning and childcare sector. At Level 3 (Advanced Apprenticeship), the qualification confirms competence in this area and serves as the required qualification (for all new practitioners) for registration and regulatory requirements in the early learning and childcare sector, children's social care and residential childcare.

Learners who have achieved the Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Diploma can progress to the Pearson Edexcel Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children’s Services (England) (QCF), which contains six pathways inclduing Children’s Management and Children’s Advanced Practice.
Achievement of this pathway will also enable apprentices to access higher level jobs within the sector, e.g. Nursery Supervisor, Nursery Manager, Pre-school Manager/Co-ordinator, etc.
There is also opportunity for apprentices to go on to further study at higher levels, particularly working towards Foundation Degrees in Early Years. This in turn will support the achievement of Early Years Professional Status (Graduate level).
Progression to Level 3 or Advanced Apprenticeship will also enable you to move to higher levels of work or enable you to work unsupervised. Roles include Nursery Supervisor, Childminder and Foster Carer.
As the level of this pathway (Level 3) determines that the apprentice should be working at a level where they may either be working on their own or supervising others, the apprentice should have prior experience of the sector and be employed in a position whereby they would be able to demonstrate the competencies required at this level.
For the Level 3 Early Years Educator pathway 1, on completion of the framework the learner must have GCSE maths and English grades A*-C.
