What is the wage for an Apprentice?

The national minimum wage for apprentices is £3.30, this applies to apprentices who are in their first year. NMW for your age applies when you have completed for your first year.

Is there a limit to the number of apprentices an employer can have?

No, employers can take on as many apprentices as they can support.

If I change employers do I have to restart my apprenticeship?

No, you can stay on programme and change employers.

What are the career prospects of an apprenticeship?

Did you know 90% of apprentices stay in employment after finishing their apprenticeship? Depending on the candidate you might progress onto a Level 3 Qualification, where you would be employed for another 12 – 18 months.

Is there an age limit for apprentices?

You can start an apprenticeship aged 16 when you leave full time education.

Can I do an apprenticeship if I have a degree?

You can apply for an apprenticeship if you have a degree however you are not eligible for funding, therefore your employer would have to pay for your training costs.

How long does an apprenticeship take to complete?

There is no set length for an apprenticeship, it can take between one and four years to complete. This depends on the level of qualification you are working on.

What Qualification will I gain?

You will work towards gaining a nationally recognised qualification, which will vary depending on your job role. Your qualification will be achieved through observation and guidance from our Training Assessors.

Is there financial support available for employers?

If you employ an apprentice aged 16 – 24 you can access government financial grants to support your apprenticeship programme. Please contact us for Terms and Conditions

What is NAS?

The National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) supports, funds and co-ordinates the delivery of apprenticeships throughout England, and are responsible for increasing the number of apprenticeship opportunities and providing a dedicated, responsive service for both employers and learners.
