Chloe Appleby - Apprentice of the Month

Congratulations to July’s Apprentice of the Month, Chloe Appleby! Who is currently completing her Level 2 Apprenticeship in Residential Lettings and Property Management with Profound Services at Hegarty’s Estates.

Hegarty’s, established in 2003, are an Estate Agent's based in Houghton le Spring, Hetton le Hole.

Chloe started working with Hegarty’s Estates in October 2014, where she began her career as a Lettings Negotiator Apprentice.  Since then Chloe has had a dramatic rise in her professional development and confidence to which, Chloe commented: "The apprenticeship I'm doing now has helped me gain confidence in myself. I am gaining skills which will help me progress in my career. I am looking forward to gaining a nationally recognised qualification in the property industry and developing further in my role".

We asked Chloe a few questions regarding her experience as an Apprentice:

How did you hear about apprenticeships?
I went to college when I didn’t really want to. I always wanted to do an apprenticeship but just couldn’t find the right one until this opportunity at Hegarty's came available.

How did you find your apprenticeship?
I saw it advertised on the National Apprenticeship Service website.

How do you find balancing your work with studying?
I find it OK, at the end of the day it is all related and helps me develop knowledge and experience.

What are you hoping to get out of your apprenticeship?
I am hoping to secure full time, permanent employment in the property industry to develop a career.

How has it changed your life?
The apprenticeship has given me an opportunity of employment in the property industry and hopefully the start of a career.

What advice would you give to young people unsure whether or not to go to college, uni or do an apprenticeship?
Do an apprenticeship!! It is similar to college as you still gain qualifications, but the apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to gain hands on experience in a real role as well as getting paid to do it.

Chloe’s Training Advisor, Kristian added:
“From my point of view as Chloe's assessor I chose Chloe as the apprentice of the month for a number of reasons. Chloe has been on programme for around 9 months now and in that time her personal development and confidence has improved dramatically. When I first met Chloe she was a quiet, shy individual who I was concerned would not fit into the property industry as landlords can be quite intimidating. However over the last 9 months her confidence in the role and when dealing with customers over the phone and in the office is fantastic. Chloe has always completed any work or targets I have set her between our monthly visits and took it upon herself to research the answer to questions she didn’t know which shows a good initiative. Her standard of written work and product evidence that she has produced is excellent and a joy to assess. Chloe has a few months left on her apprenticeship and is already talking about progressing to an advanced apprenticeship in Residential Lettings and Property Management to enhance her knowledge further.”

Profound Services and Hegarty’s Estates wish Chloe every success in her career!
